This is 'Faith' 

믿음이

This dog was born on Christmas Eve in the year 2002. He was born with 3  legs - 
2 healthy hind legs and 1 abnormal front leg which had to be  amputated. 
He of course could not walk when he was born. Even his mother did not want him.
 

His first owner also did not think that he could survive and he was thinking of
'putting him to sleep'.  But then, his present owner, Jude Stringfellow, met him
and wanted  to take care of him.  She became determined to teach and train
this little dog to walk by himself.  She named him 'Faith'.

믿음이의 주인도 이 어린 강아지가 살아날 수 있으리라 생각하지 않았으므로
안락사를 시키려고 했습니다, 그러나 바로 그 때, 믿음이는 현재의 주인인 쥬드를 만나게 되는데
믿음이를 만난 쥬드는 자신이 이 강아지를 돌보겠다고 자청했습니다. 
쥬드는 어린 강아지가 혼자 서고 다닐 수 있도록 훈련시키기로 마음 먹었고, 
그런 의미로 하여 강아지에게 믿음이라는 이름을 주게 되었습니다.

In the beginning, she put Faith on a surfboard to let him feel the movement. 
Later she used peanut  butter on a spoon as a lure and reward for him
for standing up and jumping around. 
Even the other dog at home encouraged him to walk. 
Amazingly, only after 6 months, like a miracle,  
Faith learned to balance on his hind legs and to jump to move forward. 
After further training in the snow, he could now walk like a human being.

우선 쥬드는 믿음이를 서프보드에 올려놓고 그 움직임을 느껴보도록 했습니다.
그러다가 수저에 피넛버터를 떠서 믿음이로 하여금 일어서고 점프를 하도록 유도하고,
잘 따라하면 상으로 먹여주었습니다. 쥬드집에 같이 지내고 있는 다른 강아지들도
믿음이가 걸음을 걷도록 격려해줍니다.

놀랍게도 믿음이는 단 6개월만에 기적과도 같이 뒷다리 두 개만으로 일어서고 점프하고
앞으로 걷기까지 하게 되었습니다. 그 후로도 계속된 눈밭훈련을 통해 믿음이는
이제 사람과 같이 걸을 수 있습니다. 

 


His present owner Jude Stringfellow has  given up her teaching post
and plans to take him around the world to  preach
that even without a perfect body, one can have a perfect soul'.

쥬드는 이제 그녀의 교사로서의 커리어를 접고, 믿음이와 세계곳곳을 돌아다니면서 
완전한 육신을 갖지 않고도 완전한 정신을 가질 수 있다는 주제를 가지고 
소망의 메시지를 전할 계획을 가지고 있습니다.
